BİRLEŞİM MÜHENDİSLİK 2021 ANNUAL REPORT 7 2009 2008 The company undertakes the mechanical works of its first large-scale project: the Istanbul Sapphire Tower, the city’s tallest building at the time of its completion. The works are completed in 2011. Begun in 2008, the Sapphire Tower’s 64 stories topped by a 261 meter mast made it the first building in Turkey to join the ranks of the world’s tallest structures. With its total under-construction space of 185,000 m2, it was also one of the country’s biggest civil engineering projects ever carried out. The company undertakes the mechanical works of the Etiler Dünyagöz Hospital, one of the world’s biggest ophthalmic hospitals at the time of its completion. The company undertakes the mechanical works of the Erzurum Shopping Center, Turkey’s first green shopping mall. The company undertakes the mechanical works of Europe’s first Trump Towers project. Located in Istanbul, the project is completed the same year. Participating in the same project was Erde Mühendislik, an independent electrical contracting firm at the time. 2014 2015 The company is awarded a silver medal by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in recognition of its high ranking in the 2013 league table of the chamber’s corporate taxpaying members. Birleşim Mühendislik is included in the Istanbul Chamber of Industry’s 2014 list of Turkey’s second 500 biggest industrial concerns. Mechanical and/or electrical works are completed on the Levent 199 project, on the Istanbul Ataşehir Allianz Tower project (Turkey’s first office tower awarded LEED Platinum certification), and on the Istanbul Levent Nisbetiye On luxury residence project. Birleşim Mühendislik is included in the Istanbul Chamber of Industry’s 2015 list of Turkey’s second 500 biggest industrial concerns. Mechanical works are completed on the “World’s Best Residence” award-winning Quasar Istanbul project, in Mecidiyeköy, one of the city’s most central districts. Work is completed on the Atlaspark Shopping Mall and Entertainment Center project, the first of its kind in Istanbul’s Sultanbeyli township. 2013 Birleşim Mühendislik Ltd is incorporated as a joint-stock company pursuant to article 152 of the Turkish Commercial Code and renamed Birleşim Mühendislik Isıtma Soğutma Havalandırma Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Birleşim Mühendislik Heating, Air-Conditioning, Ventilation Industry & Commerce Inc). The company is awarded a silver medal by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in recognition of its high ranking in the 2012 league table of the chamber’s corporate taxpaying members. For the purpose of singlehandedly carrying out and coordinating closely-associated mechanical and electrical works on projects which the company undertakes, a strategic growth decision is made and a 100% stake is acquired in Erde Mühendislik on 10 December 2013. Birleşim Mühendislik is awarded “Green Building” status at the 2 nd International Green Buildings Summit. Works are completed on the Istanbul Maslak Spine Tower, a residential and office project made distinctive by its modern architecture and visually attractive facade, and on the Antakya Palladium project, the biggest multi-brand shopping mall in Turkey’s southernmost province.
