BİRLEŞİM MÜHENDİSLİK 2021 ANNUAL REPORT 33 · An electromechanical installation project undertaken at the Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus located on the European shore with a panoramic view of both the Bosphorus and the venerable and verdant-green Naile Sultan Forest and streets of Kuruçeşme was completed. The works have been provisionally accepted. This hotel, a joint venture of the Hong Kong-based Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group International Limited hotel investment and management group and of Astaş Holding A.Ş., is the MOHG’s second investment in Turkey after the Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum in Göltürkbükü. · The electromechanical installation contract that was tendered for Kalyon Havacılık ve İnşaat A.Ş.’s 4,800 m2 jet airplane hangar at Istanbul Airport in 2021 was completed the same year. The works have been provisionally accepted. · Originally established in Ottoman- period Istanbul as the “Council of Judicial Regulations”, the Court of Cassation (Turkey’s supreme court of appeals) finally moved into its own premises after a century and a half of relocations from one building to another. Situated in Ankara’s Ahlatlıbel district, the court’s new home consists of 10 low-rise blocks with a total of 416,000 m2 of enclosed space, all of whose mechanical installations were done by Birleşim Mühendislik. One entire building is reserved for the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor for the Court of Cassation. There are chambers for 24 department heads, 309 judges, 48 senior investigating judges, 744 investigating judges, 48 debating halls (two in each of 12 chambers), 26 courtrooms, 40 meeting rooms, 133 archives, and 215 warehouses. The complex also has 20 clinics, a laboratory, a library that can accommodate 92 people, 3 cafeterias with a combined seating capacity of 1,361, and a 1,567-vehicle carpark. · Mechanical installation work was completed for SMARTIST, one of the world’s biggest air cargo hubs. Designed and built to meet the complex needs of a market driven by the burgeoning demand for air cargo services, SMARTIST is owned by Turkish Cargo, a carrier whose operations take it to more than 320 destinations in 127 countries. The works have been provisionally accepted. In keeping with its mission to be an innovator, Turkish Cargo carries out ground-breaking digital and innovation projects that focus on the sustainable improvement of service quality. SMARTIST is equipped with high-tech intelligent systems such as augmented-reality, automated storage, robotic process automation, and unmanned ground vehicle systems. · Mechanical installation work was completed on the JW Marriott Istanbul Marmara Sea Hotel in Ataköy. Fronting directly on the Sea of Marmara, the hotel is part of the SeaPearl complex, which consists of one 16-story hotel tower, one 16-story residential tower, two podiums, and three basements with 204 hotel rooms and 62 luxury apartments and a total of 81,000 m2 of enclosed space. In a building incorporating a magnificent lacelike structure based on a modernized Seljuk Turkish motif, a sense of engaging with water that is inspired when stepping inside through the entrance is maintained all through the lobby by an unbroken view of the sea that lays just beyond. · The Istanbul Finance Center- based Ziraat Bank and VakıfBank headquarters services and facilities projects are continuing as planned. Work has begun on the Phase II indoor electromechanical works of the VakıfBank headquarters services building and facilities project, for which the contract was awarded on 9 September 2021.
