BİRLEŞİM MÜHENDİSLİK 2021 ANNUAL REPORT 32 INTRODUCTION Significant operational developments Like every other industry in 2021, the construction and electromechanical installation sectors continued to be affected and reshaped by the pandemic conditions that have been preoccupying the global agenda for over two years. Full reopening and resumption of business activities supported growth in the construction industry while the constraints on contractors’ operations and business began to wane steadily from third-quarter 2021 on, eventually reaching the lowest level witnessed since the beginning of 2019. Although they are relatively comfortable from the standpoint of demand, contractors remain cautiously optimistic about new business prospects. For Birleşim Mühendislik and Erde Mühendislik, 2021 was in the main a year in which they conducted all the projects in their portfolios as specified and on time– going even so far as to complete some of them ahead of schedule–and posted successful operational and financial results. · On 9 March 2021 a contract was signed with Cevahir Yapı Sanayi Turizm Ticaret A.Ş. for the mechanical installation works of the Borsa Istanbul services building located in the Istanbul Finance Center; work has begun. · On 10 March 2021 a contract was signed with Perspektif Yapı İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. for the electrical installation works of the İş Real Estate Investment Company services building located in the Istanbul Finance Center; work has begun. · Electromechanical installation works have begun on the Acıbadem Ataşehir Hospital & Offices Complex project under a contract signed on 16 June 2021 with Acıbadem Sağlık Hizmetleri, one of Turkey’s leading healthcare providers. · Under a contract signed with Kuzu Toplu Konut İnşaat A.Ş. on 4 March 2021, electromechanical installation works have begun on a 300-room hospital that will be operated by the Medicana Health Group. · An electromechanical installation project was completed for the Bağcılar services building of the Medipol Mega Hospitals Complex. Subsequently renamed “Medipol University Hospital” after its affiliation, the complex is Turkey’s biggest private-sector healthcare investment. The works have been provisionally accepted. With 246 clinics, a 470-bed capacity, 133 intensive care units, and 25 operating rooms, the hospital will be providing healthcare services in more branches than any other privately-owned medical facility. Electromechanical works are currently continuing at the Bahçelievler Nisa hospital, also owned by the Medipol Health Group. · On 24 June 2021 a contract was signed with Polart Yapı Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. for the electromechanical installation works of a hospital investment that the Medipol Health Group will be undertaking in Acıbadem; work has begun. · Under a contract that was signed with Aydınlı İnşaat Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. on 20 August 2021, mechanical installation work has begun on the Aydınlı Hazır Giyim Selimpaşa Factory project in Silivri. · Under a contract that was signed with Aydınlı İnşaat Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. on 23 August 2021, mechanical installation work has begun on the Aydınlı Hadımköy warehouse project. · Under a contract that was signed with Kavacık Medikal Sağlık Hizmetleri ve Ürünleri Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş. on 20 August 2021, work has begun on electromechanical installation revision and renovation projects at Medistate Kavacık Hospital. · An electromechanical installation project that was undertaken at a 16,750 m2 mobile phone factory located in the Karaağaç Organized Industrial Zone in Tekirdağ’s Kapaklı township under a contract that was signed with REC Uluslararası İnşaat Yatırım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. on 10 May 2021 was completed. The works have been provisionally accepted. ASSESSMENT OF 2021 OPERATIONAL RESULTS In 2021 Birleşim Mühendislik and Erde Mühendislik carried out/completed all the works in their portfolios as specified and on time.
