Corporate Social Responsibility 97 On February 6 th , a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey, becoming the deadliest and most powerful seismic event of 2023. The quake’s epicenter was in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş in southeastern Turkey. According to AFAD, the earthquake originated 8.6 kilometers below the surface wreaking havoc in eleven of Turkey’s provinces and also causing widespread devastation and tragic loss of life in Syria. The earthquake’s tremors were felt across Turkey and in numerous locations throughout the Middle East and even into Europe. In the afternoon of the same day, a second powerful earthquake, measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale, hit the region. This time, the epicenter was located in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. These earthquakes resulted in a devastating toll, with over 50,000 fatalities, more than 100,000 injuries, and the destruction of over 7,000 buildings. We extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy and to our nation as a whole. We pray for the swift recovery of those who were affected and injured. In the face of this catastrophe, our country rose as one in both spirit and deed to bind the wounds and overcome the challenges that lay ahead. Our companies have been actively involved in the relief efforts since the first day of the disaster, providing personnel and equipment on the ground and channeling donated resources to the affected region through AFAD. In an effort to address the urgent housing needs of earthquake survivors and contribute to their recovery, we partnered with our client Rönesans Holding on a project to construct a container city. This city consisted of 1,000 containers capable of accommodating as much as 10,000 people. We were responsible for the electromechanical installation works and successfully completed our part of the project within a short time.
