BİRLEŞİM MÜHENDİSLİK 2023 ANNUAL REPORT 96 INTRODUCTION Careful planning makes it possible for waste that is generated during the conduct of project operations to be recycled/reused in various ways, thus reducing the environmental impact that the disposal of solid waste would otherwise cause. In order to ensure compliance with LEED Gold criteria and to qualify for the points assigned for doing so, 75% of total waste generated is sorted and set aside to be recycled or reused. The weights/volumes of all waste (whether recyclable/reusable or not) generated in the conduct of projects is tracked and recorded. Recyclable waste collection and sorting processes are carried out under agreements with local municipal authorities and/or private companies. Some types of waste that are collected in this way are: · Paper & cardboard · Packaging waste · Glass · Plastic · Metal Waste that is sent back to manufacturers, used in other company projects, sold as scrap, or disposed of in similar ways is also treated as having been recycled for reporting purposes.
